The library offers Storytime on Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m, and on Thursdays at 10:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. for 3, 4, and 5 year olds who have not started kindergarten. Each
session lasts approximately 30 minutes. Activities including stories,
songs, fingerplays, flannelboard stories, crafts and parties are
planned. This program runs from September ~May.
The library also offers Mother Goose Time on Thursdays at 10:00 a.m. and
6:30 p.m. for infants through 2 years old. Each session lasts 30
minutes. The children must be accompanied by an adult during the half
hour. There are stories, songs and activities. The program runs
from September ~ May.
If Carey Public school is not in session or is canceled that day there will be no
Storytime or Mother Goose Time.
It is open to children in grades four on up. They meet in the
afternoon on the third Wednesday of the month in the meeting room. The
children decide on a book they would like to read and then meet to share
their feelings about the book. No discussions during summer reading
program.
Reading Club
Children aged three through sixth grade are encouraged to join our Summer
Reading Club. Each child is given a chart and stickers to be put on it
as books are read during the summer. Contests, crafts and other
activities add to the enjoyment of reading. A swimming party is sponsored
by the library for those who have completed their charts.
Teen Reading
Program
Seventh graders and up are
welcome to join the Young Adult Reading Program with a chance to win
weekly prizes and be in the drawing for the grand prize at the end of
the program.
